Call ahead to reserve (there are only a handful of tables), then arrive with an empty stomach and order their Shofu menu - it's the biggest one, and the only one which comes with Wagyu beef .

Amazing menu’s, great value . Star worthy. Middle one is great, the biggest one is too. It has a slightly lighter appetizer menu but more overall and comes with beef that melts on your tongue .

If you enjoy scenery, tasty clean food and zen ambiance, Shoraian is the best dining experience Kyoto has to offer. Plus, there is matching calligraphy art with your meal. Mind-blown.

If you are looking for a traditional kaiseki experience AND you’d planned to go to the bamboo grove AND you really, really love tofu , you’ll love this. But all three of those things need to be true.

The mini hike to this place is incredible. Our lunch course , though didn’t live up to our expectations, was a memorable experience nevertheless. Service is warm, reservations are required.

Shorai menu (the middle one) is more than enough. But the Shofu menu gives you amazing tempura , wagyu beef and tofu gratin . If you’re here, I would go for the latter unless you’re a vegetarian .

Most meditative meal I had on Kyoto, overlooking the river as the restaurant is nestled in the valley. Variations of tofu were all delicious. Be prepared for the hike to get here.

????しょうらいあん????茶室 の個室 でゆったり11品いただきました。lunch松風(しょうふう)ミニステーキ 付き。6380円/1人おそらくヒレ でしょう????山葵醤油 でさっぱり美味しく、1品ずつ季節の食材で丁寧に作られておりました。また行きましょ～足場が悪いので、ギリシャのパルテノン神殿より大変。スニーカーが望ましい????????

ランチで3800円の豆腐 懐石 をいただきました。 席からは桂川が見え雰囲気はとても良かったです。ただ、お店に行くまでが山道のようで、階段も多いので大変です。

松籟とは、松に風があたり、そよそよと揺れている様。かつて、この地には源氏物語に登場する明石の君が住み、故郷を思って松を植えたという。

料理もロケーション最高でした。。
