Dune Climb - Sleeping Bear Dunes is a park Glen Arbor located in United States.
S Dune Hwy (M-109) Glen Arbor , MI 49636 United States
If you're climbing the dunes to reach the lake you have a long way to go, be sure you have lots of water, and good hiking shoes because the sand is extremely hot. Happy hiking .
Go early before the sand gets too hot. You can climb in socks, barefoot, trek shoes etc. Allow 2-3 hours at least 4 would be better. Bring LOTS of drinking water!!!!! Great place for photos!!
It's 25$ to get in. Once in, climb up the dunes, bring plenty of water & snacks . About 1 mile up, you are not to the too, you have about 2-3 more miles to get to the shoreline. So worth all of it.
It's relatively steep and you'll have tons of sand in you shoes , but it's a blast to run down! (The view of Glen lake is better from the scenic drive 3 miles south)
The view is incredible. The water is clear. The climbing is steep and the trail is long but worth it.
Lots of climbing uphill- 4 miles round trip, but the views are spectacular. 28 trail markers .
The first dune you see from the parking lot is only about a third of what you'll have to climb to see the lake . If you're out of shape, do the scenic drive instead.
The view from the dunes is great. Bring good shoes for the climb on the sand :-)
DONT BRING GYM SHOES! You'll just end up taking them off because of the sand. Comfy sandals are a good idea.
Bring water - you'll want to continue on quite a ways past where you can see from the bottom.
"Don't do a face plant in the sand! It's not a pleasant experience!" Cooper James (& he knows from personal experience). 8> )
I love the feeling of making it to the lake ! It's a great exercise!
Humbling on first impression. Quite the workout.
Awesome in the winter for sledding! Very fast!
It is a real challenge to go barefoot the whole thing. It's burning!!!
Very cute . And a lot of fun. And gorgeous
It's bigger than it looks. And the hike across to Lake Michigan is looong up and down hills .
If you plan on hiking to lake michigan , you NEED to bring water.
Note: It's a 3-4 hour hike to Lake Michigan from the bottom of the Dune Climb!
Run the dune, the lake side. It's worth the challenge
There are 28 markers on the way down to the beach
Great exercise for the kids. They'll sleep well tonight!
It was fun to climb the sand dunes as a kid
Run down as fast as you can! Bonus if you flip ;)
The place to visit!
Luv the sand in between my toes!
