A good idea to at least walk through the market before buying anything. You get to identify what is available and what you like first, and get good indicative price. It will be lower as you go along.

Good spot for local souvenirs (masks, ebony rhinos, paintings , etc). Do not forget to bargain, price can be dropped by 50%. Unfortunately sellers are clueless about origins of some artefacts

Your best bet is to go through all the stalls comparing prices first. The vendors will notice and begin to lower their prices significantly -- and then haggle them down at least another 20 - 30%.
