Portland Bill Rd Portland Dorset DT5 2JT United Kingdom
The walk the climb the view the cafe , lobster pot , is all great. There is two shops, one in the lighthouse and one in the restaurant . The hotel is meant to be good. The pub gr8 for dogs allowed in.
The lighthouse is now chargeable. £7 adults and £5 children. I feel this is too much. 180 steps up so be prepared. Get there early or late. Winter last trip up is 3pm
Even on a breezy sunny afternoon it is such a lovely place to visit
Lovely afternoon out. Lobster pot food was good and quick. Lookout for dolphins out at sea
Visit at night to see the lighthouse in action with its 4 visible beams of light sweeping across the sky.
Bring a picnic or a drink with you. The prices of the local establishments are extremely high.
You have to try and find the waterfall when visiting Portland Bill.
Visited again after 3 years...and now there is 4G on O2, other networks aren't so good :(
Buy a kite from the shop and you can fly it in the large field next to it
Without a doubt, one of the most gorgeous locations in the country ! Always windy though, so wrap up!
Don't try to use your phone here, the signal is poor to non-existent. Although there is Wi-Fi to connect to :)
Get there early otherwise you will have to wait for everyone to climb back down the lighthouse . Opens at 11am.
Beautiful location marred by too many people.
Visited on a wet windy day so a bit of a wash out
My brother saved my life here, now he is having second thoughts...
If cycling round Coastal cliff trail you need MTB and easiest is ANTIclockwise
