The exhibitions downstairs about Lady Godiva and the bombing are fascinating. However, the modern art collection upstairs contains more crap than the video on guano collecting being played next door!

In 1569, a Catholic uprising prompted Elizabeth I to transfer Mary Queen of Scots from her confinement at Tutbury Castle , Staffordshire, to the walled city of Coventry. She stayed here till Jan 1570.
