No photos allowed. This is the first time this has ever happened to me at any Cathedral I've visited worldwide. It is free entry but I would have gladly paid for a permit to shoot.
Durham Cathedral has been featured in the Harry Potter films as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where it had a spire digitally added onto the top of the famous towers .
Crow jewel of Durham, you have to pay to climb the stairs to the top but well worth it you will be able to see the whole of Durham City
