Scenic views of Heidelberg . Take Bus # 33 from HbF or Bismarckplatz and get down at Rathaus/Bergbahn. Take the funicular and get down at first station (Schloss).

Thrilled I got to visit this gorgeous landmark ! Lots to explore in and around the castle and Heidelberg. Just note-if you take the Funicular to the very top during winter: DRESS WARM!

A battle torn castle that you can walk through. Not like Neuschwanstein were you see the perfectly preserved rooms. Very cool to walk through. Pharmacy Museum inside is really cool.

Took a student-led tour and he gave us lots of background on the castle . Great views of town from a couple of vantage points. World's largest wine cask is huge! Many stories about footprint on terrace

If you go to Heidelberg you must visit the castle , no question here. If you visit the castle , go for a guided tour - also no question here.

Much of the castle is only accessible after hiring a tour guide. But it's still worth a visit. The view from up there is breathtaking.

buy a whole ticket of bergbahn which includes visit of palace musuem and allowed to take off at all stops! Of course check their web-site in advance in case rule's still unchanged!

Beautiful place to be... take the cable railway to the castle for EUR 7 incl. Entry to the castle .

When you're in town check to see if there's a Schlossbeleuchtung during your stay, like tonight. It's worth watching from the other side of the Neckar or the castle garden .

If you're in Heidelbergfora weekend it could be useful to get the Heidelbergcard at the touristinfo. The Train-ride to the castle + entrance is included. Also some museums , special savings and so on..

You should go there on a clear day! The view over the city from the terrace there is amazing!!!!!

I wasn't impressed... the castle itself is ruins, and most of them rather bleak except for one house front. There is an apothecary museum , but besides that only restaurants and a souvenir shop.
