Snappers for fish and chips (11am-7pm daily) is great, 1 of few nice outdoor spots in Canberra. Closest thing Canberra has to a village common. If only they had real ale like Colbar in Singapore.
The sailing school here is great, especially so if you have a daughter as there are lots of female instructors who are themselves competitive racers.

Watch out if ordering in large groups, they tend to miss out meals. Not a happy night.
