This branch of a New Orleans institution that opened in 1862 offers dark-roast coffee with chicory (tempers the bitterness) and divine beignets , served warm with a generous coating of powdered sugar .
Beignets are absolutely delicious here and the service is good. The overall atmosphere is wonderful and authentic to the original Café du Monde. It's not as good as the original but a close second.
If ordering "to go" (with the intention of eating later), make sure to request the beignets are bagged separate from the powdered sugar .
