Go up along the canyon trail and use the cave trail on return. Make sure you plan to be at the top well before 5:30PM or perhaps 5PM. Rangers start getting people out of the trail after 5:30 PM.
Well worth the drive off the highway when going between Santa Fe and ABQ. Stoic and beautiful rocks that are easily accessible on the trail , just bring tons of water when hot. Seriously bring water!
If you go early while it's still cool, take your time and go with one other person: a 2-yr old can make it. We almost made it to the top but we stopped at a landing near it. Kid wanted to keep going.
One of my favorite parks I've been to. The hike up is enjoyably challenging and the views are worth it.
Great walk.. Steep part is steep, so good shoes and water are a must! Go in the morning... You want to be out of there by noon :)
Go in winter to miss the crowds. Slot canyon and cave trails are easy for regular hikers and spectacular.
Google Maps not accurate for me case. There are multiple parks spots along the same high way. Beautiful view along the road regardless.
Tread carefully. Wasps like to build nests in the rocks on the path through Slot Canyon Trail .
Hiking through a dried up river bed, seeing the corrosion over thousands of years and walking through narrow paths/crevices.
Beautiful hike to the top with an amazing view . Not to difficult.
A beautiful desert hike . Don't miss the slot canyon trail .
Do the "harder" trail ...amazing views from the top and a shaded canyon stroll at the beginning.
we drove an hour to see the stupid rocks and they wouldn't let us in because we had a chihuahua in our car. We had no intention of hiking with the dog and made that clear. Way to ruin our vacation!
Go early and enjoy. Take water because there is none on the trail .
If you are not looking to go on a long hike the short trail still has great views !
Canyon trail way better than the loop we checked both out as they were short
Wonderful place
Natural wonder. Breathtaking. What NM means to me!
Dogs aren't allowed there anymore 😖
Don't get lost....
Decent climb. - Tim Erdmann
Once I get there I always think OK I’m close to home. In the winter it could be hard to get up that hill with snow & ice. - Lennett OV
Make sure you get out of your car so you can get the whole experience. - Jon Bringhurst
