Karnak Temple is home to three main temples , several smaller enclosed temples , and a number of outer temples – combining the achievements of generations of ancient builders over a period of 1500years.

The complex covers a total area of 2 sq. km, and its name "Karnak" means "fortified settlement" in Arabic. The temple of Amun, the complex's main structure , is the largest place of worship ever built.

The size of the stones are just amazing. It's hard to believe the manpower that ancient Egypt spent on building things, really huge things!

Really worths this place. Temple devoted to God Amon with head of ram. Large complex with ancient history on 103 ha spread...its a beautiful sightseen but crowded , for couple of hours its not enough!

It's more awe inspiring at night with the light shows, but you really need to go during the day to see all the detail.

You have to visit it while in Luxor, search for the room with a painting of a pharo with large organs ;-)

If temple fatigue is setting in, then a concise tour of the vast Karnak temple by night is a good bet.

There are lots of local hagglers inside that will offer themselves as solo tour guides and will ask hefty payment after. Do not talk to these 'fake' employees.
