Hire a boat, cycle the tow path, or just go for a walk alongside this wonderfully peaceful canal . It's good for shade in high summer as there are lots of trees either side.

11am: Head north to the banks of the Canal du Midi. It doesn’t look much at this point but, a few minutes further east, it runs through stunning countryside and is lined with regal plane trees .

Pretty in the morning, and right by the train station . Worthwhile taking a moment to stand next to it before you head to the castle .

Este canal es legendario. Visitarlo en Carcassonne fue un hallazgo. Pude comprender lo que es transitarlo, ver las "peniches" ancladas y equipadas como casas, la gente alojada . Muy bonito
