The Imperial / Forbidden City in Huế is a walled fortress and palace in the former capital of Vietnam.
23 Tháng 8 Huế Tỉnh Thừa Thiên-Huế Vietnam
From outside it really look stunning, but inside few buildings survive the war and neglecting. Anyway the remaining gates and shrines are just breathtaking.
The principle reason you visit Hue is to come to this magnificent site. Everything you'd expect from a special world heritage site . Vast, beautiful, and amazing to the imagination given its age
Beware that if you buy the full ticket of 360K that the tombs are about 5 to 9 kilometers away from the citadel. We bought combo ticket but had no time to go to tombes . Citadel is very beautiful!
It was extremely hot, but there were spots where there was a good breeze. Definitely worth visiting even though you might be uncomfortable. The orchids and landscaping is beautiful.
The former Imperial residence of the Vietnamese emperors. It resembles the forbidden city of Beijing .
Must see, but not actually as good as Tu Doc tomb or some temples out of the city
If you can, go with a local or a guide. There's so much here to see and understand, if lucky you'll see the elephants. The bullet holes in the walls are a stark reminder of Vietnam 's past.
Very interesting site, don’t miss the collection of historical pictures in the long corridor. Plan 2 to 3 hours for a full visit.
It's large area with many things to visit. Making sure that water bottles and umbrella are brought with you. Visit HoiAn's best service hotel at: http://www.kimanhoianhotel.com/ Read more
Good historical place, not too crowded but i think the entrance fee is a little bit expensive ! 150k VND per person
Well worth the 200dong entryfee, but plan to spend quite some time to explore. Sunscreen , sunhat, umbrella and water makes the heat more bearable
Great place, you're gonna take a lot of beautiful pictures! Have many spots where you can really enjoy silence
You should spare a whole day to wander about this site. The contrast between restored and destroyed objects is somewhat disturbingly beautiful.
One of the highlights if you are visiting Vietnam !
Awesome place to visit. Don't miss it!
Due to time constraints we took a tuk tuk ride. We agreed a price at start but when we finished the rider tried to double price. Watch for this and stick firm to what was agreed.

A nice place to visit. You will need a few hours to explore it. Don't miss it !
The Imperial City was amazing. Too bad the war nearly destroyed everything. But what's left is definitely worth seeing.
It looks majestic from the outside, but it’s not the same inside. It seems it suffered a lot during the war.
Cafeteria is after the Thai Hoa Hall on the left with free Wifi : theonetheone
Must do in hue, 150k vnd entrance fees.
Plan your visit on early morning, otherwise humidity and temperature make Your tour unexpectable short 4/2012
After entrance go left for the most interesting part
150k Dongs completely worth it for this Unesco world heritage place????
Still undergoing restoration but still very impressive and interesting
Don't bail on the one room with all the written information - it's quite interesting really!
In rainy day, Hue will show you her real smile.
Allocate more time to over this area. Closes at 530pm.
An very important place to visit. It's royal charm remains. Learning about the former royal court is a Hue highlight. Despite being bombed heavily, there are some well preserved and intact sections.
To see the best buildings when you enter the main gate head to the left and not straight ahead like everyone else.
Awesome!. No words to describe the magnificence of this imperial city
Did not miss it in the imperial city !
Make sure you get to the National Theatre building, impressive even when not in performance season.
For a change, you can tour the left side of the Citadel on top of an elephant!
Not so impressive comparing to others, but still nice to see and be at.
Impressive due to its huge scale. But most of the buildings did not really do much for me though.
On the way out hop into a cyclo and take it along Perfume River to the market .
Take 2 hrs for this trrip
Small and unsuccessful copy of "Forbidden City " in Beijing.
Morning or evening preferable
Must-see place in Hue Read more
Well worth a visit... ????
Most photos you see here are of the exit gate. That tells you something. Skip to the end...
Simply marvelous!
Enter via the exit for a free experience ( did it by accident)
Nice place to look around
Pretty, but be mindful most of this place is reconstructed post-war damage - Gregory Fisher
Very nice way to start your visit, but beware it’s only an entrance, not an exit, so plan your visit to end at a different point (the north and east sides of the Citadel have the exits) - Gregory Fisher
Local coffee chain located near the imperial city. Coffee is fine. Spacious, clean, comfortable. WiFi available. Price is higher than local coffee shops. Toilet located outside of the main building. - NuiMOs Foodie
Very beautiful place. Must see in Hue. It's smaller than another tombs, bus so amazing - Julia Shcherbakova
Lots to see here, the beef dish Bo La Lot in the nearby restaurant is definitely worth a try. (It isn't a traditional Vietnamese meal, but it's really tasty nonetheless.) - Paul T
A must. Large scale layout with temples, gardens, cemeteries, and steeped in history. One of the reasons you visit Hue - Bijan Young
The sunset is a great time to come. Great river views and not a lot of people - Fernando Gonzalez Saiffe
Just stroll around the street at the back..vegetables, colours..amazing - Olivier Vander Elst
Great food. Great service. Lots of vegetarian options as well. - Tyler Alexis
