Way better than expected. A lot of variety, great work put on to describe Christchurch, the region and geological areas of Canterbury. And it's free. A must in the city .
Very large museum with lots of interesting exhibits ! Entrance is free. Don’t miss the Paua House! Such a neat little exhibit featuring Kiwi kitsch!
First of all, it’s free! Good mix of exhibitions , great way to spend a few hours after walking round the Botanical Gardens . Eye opening exhibit on male sexual abuse, great to see this talked about.
a must visit! i had a lovely time. do allot more time to make sure you're not in a rush because the museum is quite big. free of charge but donations are appreciated.
Great museum to understand the history of Christchurch & the aftermath of major earthquake back in 2010-2011.
Free and amazing local history of NZ and the region
Great exhibits and ideas!!
Great museum . Lots to explore must see in Christchurch
This is one of the building that lets you forget you are in New Zealand and makes you believe you're in England
A lot to see in this big and FREE museum Don't miss the Quake expo
Informative & poignant exhibit about the four big quakes to strike the area since 2010
$2 for discovery makes a cheap day's entertainment for kids but they need a small cafe for parents in there
Free! Great for tourists to ChCh
The face value photo exhibit on modern te moko is really nice

A very interesting exhibit with videos, sound clips, photos, and many artifacts. I recommend the video of locals accounts of the quake - even just a partial viewing. - Kass K
Had an awesome time there. You can experience almost all the old stuffs, learn about the past, and unlimited ride of the old trams and the old trains. - Enrique L
As of February 2014, Central Christchurch is still ruined and the Cathedral is in ruins. It is still unfortunately in doubt whether or not it can be saved. - raf sanchez
A beautiful botanic garden with plenty to see and do. Takes at least 1/2 day to explore the whole garden. Limited shelter along in the grounds and along the paths so make sure you bring a hat ???? - Rob Nicholson
I liked the feminist and modern art here. Totally worth the visit, especially with the friendly staff and docents. - K G
Check out the iced coffee at the hummingbird cafe. It's great - Steve S
