This is my favorite place in the entire country . Beautiful views , amazing service, and incredible hospitality . You could easily spend a week here and never get bored.
Beautiful views and sunsets , trails in good condition with lots of animal sightings. Rooms large, but no AC . Food better than expected. A great stay!
The longer trails are great. Amazing wildlife spotting. If you need a second place for more wildlife in the Arenal area I recommend the peninsula.
Great location for hikes and bird watching , but terribly far from La Fortuna. There are no tour pickups at the lodge , so you'll have to get a taxi or shuttle.
The Lava Walk Tour is great for seeing birds and tree frogs

Nice view from the deck, but the trails are not great. A bit too touristy .

Las habitaciones Smithsonian son grandiosas, básicamente todo el frente de la habitación es un ventanal con vista espectacular al volcán . El lugar esta bastante retirado pero hay mucho que hacer.

We had the junior suite (506) and it was the nicest room we stayed in in all of Costa Rica (including the all-inclusive Hilton Papagayo). Turn the jacuzzi on for an hour or so to get it hot. - Josh Booth
