The intertidal zone. Want to read a great book about the intertidal zones of the east coast? Rachel Carson, The Edge of the Sea.
Start to finish, it took around 1hr to cross the sandbar, climb up the summit , and walk back into town . High/low tide charts are posted once you reach the island .
Ditto on the walk to the summit . Maybe it's a bit of a struggle if you have weak knees or ankles but it's really worth a trip out there if only to marvel at the Bar itself as you cross over at low tid
Walk across the sand bar at low tide to get here on foot. (Just make sure you start heading back before the tide comes back in, unless you want to be stranded for 6 hours)
This is a great way to spend an evening exploring.
Make sure to try and push the rock!
