A drive to the top is a must. At 5202ft you have a spectacular view of surrounding mountains . See exhibit in ranger station and talk to the friendly park rangers. A 1/4 loop around cinder cone is fun.
Absolutely beautiful!! A must visit! There are timed visits due to limited parking .
To see that the lava rock is still keeping nature from recovering out here is crazy to witness

The lava road is out in the sun, so bring water. I'd recommend walking for age 5 and up. Younger than that, you'll want to have a car go up or plan to carry, it is not excruciating but is an 8% grade. - Jess B

Nice museum! Pretty informative about the cultures and wildlife found in Oregon. The outdoor exhibits were fun to walk around in. - Hina
