A world-class museum . The sheer volume will impress you. The stories and interpretations are lovely as well . I quite enjoyed the Money section and the material archaeology section this time.
Reserve a day for this museum . All exhibitions are dynamic, so you’ll need time to observe them as every item catches your eye. My personal favourite is about ancient Egypt . It’s just mesmerising.
Off the beaten track for most tourists but this is well worth a visit. The art is truly fantastic and has many masters; monet, manet , van Dyck and many others. Usually very quiet also. Great cafes
Great museum with lots of things to see. Paintings , sculptures , ancient artefacts and other exhibitions . There is something to see for everyone.
Oh, my Gods... so much stuff! The exhibits are mind-blowing, the curation is excellent. Could spend years here... and probably will. ????
Wonderful museum . Can spend hours here. Free entry.
Some incredible artefacts from over 5,000 years ago that show craftsmanship just as honed as you’d find today. And basically free to view .
One of the greatest museums in the world. Exhibitions almost always fantastic. Cafe a little crowded , but rooftop restaurant amazing with views all over city .
No idea about the quality of the restaurant but the basement cafe has one of the nicest selections of sandwiches in central Oxford. Great for when you're tired after a trip to the mummies!
Great museum , absolutely love my experience here, a must to visit when you’re in Oxford!
Really awesome museum . Breathtaking artifacts from Rome, Greece, Egypt and many other ancient cultures. Spacious and big.
Try the cream tea in the top floor restaurant . There's a great roof terrace too - great in the sunshine.
On a sunny summer day, enjoy a cappuccino on the lawn - on the roof! Stretch out on a beanbag chair on the grass.
Big museum with exhibits from many cultures. Must see.
Oxford the best place to dwell in the world. The Ashmolean, awesome, museumed in & out on Sunday. Lunch at The Trout , fabulous.
A wide range of artefacts to keep you amused for hours. Some really inspiring stuff also. And it's free!
Very good collections. Very well worth the visit
Architecture is great and so is the Egyptian exhibit .
Must bigger and more comprehensive than it first appears. Allow plenty of time to see it all!
Good outdoor seating but with no decent views . Reasonable menu for the above average prices. Museum is superb.
Yes. Yes. Yes. This place is a real treasure, never mind the treasures it holds.
If you're visiting the museum check out the roof-top restaurant and their afternoon teas . Very good and good value to boot! Starters are also eclectic and delicious.
Impressive pieces from around the world! And it's free...
The rooftop bar/cafe is awesome.
Great collections of Oxford treasures. Also a venue for weddings and corporate events .
Visit there regularly. Great as it's free. So much to see and find unexpected things.
Can get quite packed with school groups, so try to visit at off-peak times!
Like a mini British museum lots of things to entertain and educate
Make sure that you spent time on this museum at it is huge. A good museum !
Way better and more relaxed than some of the stressful museums in London
One of the oldest public museums in the World. Do not forget to see the mummies.
The Asian trade routes section in the second floor is the best part.
Medieval Room has a great section on the Byzantine Empire. Not a lot of artefacts , but interesting nevertheless!
Have you seen Manet 's Portrait of Mademoiselle Claus on display in Gallery 65?The Ashmolean is campaigning to save it for the public http://www.ashmolean.org/manet/
The best way to time travel – the museum features items from over 8,000 years ago!
So much to see here. Bring enough time with you.
Great range of work to be seen and love the live events
It's free. Look for family museum trails .
Just wander. So many excellent objects.
especially if you're a classic music fan...
Visit the museum . It's free!!!! ????
The museum is great and the architecture of the building is incredible - if you're into that sort of thing...
The entire History of Art (pretty much) under one beautiful roof!
Visited the Pre-raphealite exhibition , loved it. Was the last day of the exhibition and was really busy,
The Ancient Egypt exhibit is awesome.
So modern instead of being the oldest british museum ! Read more
Relax on the roof !

A bit disappointing. I was looking forward to knowing a bit more about Oxford but the 'museum' consists only of one room with some memorabilia and an interactive panel. - Andrea
