It is $5 to park . There's no other fee! There is a nice bench , right here ;) if you are afraid of the dark, imaginary abominable monsters, bats, or close spaces.

Lynda Clark

Very neat! You can rent lanterns from the Forest service to explore the caves ! It is just amazing to think how old the caves are!

Chris Lahman

I would say either bring a lantern or a really bright flashlight , or rent one from the park it's definitely worth the 5 bucks.

Travis McElfresh

Bring warm clothes .... It gets very cold. Plan on an hour. Buy the 3-day pass for use in other attractions .

Andrew Cullen

Plan on well over a 1 hour hike in and back if you take children under 5, and it is DARK even with a lantern so be careful if they have darkness issues.

Lauren M

Bring a jacket , flashlights , and cash for parking ! It's $5/day.

There isn't an actual trail to the highest viewpoint, so you'll walk along the (not busy) lava road to the top. You will need to obtain time-based (ex. 11:15 you are allowed to drive up) view passes. - Jess B
